I am tightening our intake. Right now the biggest misses come from tiny samples, unknown sheen, and customers expecting invisible touch-up on old walls. What questions are non-negotiable?

Where it will be used, whether it is touch-up or full repaint, and whether they can leave enough sample for a clean reading.

This is a good candidate for a one-page field guide. The repeatable part is the expectation-setting, not just the instrument steps.
